Dental Surgeries

We also perform routine dental cleanings for our patients. Did you know that about 80% of dogs and 70% over the age of 3 years old have dental disease! Buildup of bacteria, tartar and plaque on teeth can add problems to a wide range of health issues, as well as be painful to our pets! Most dentals cleanings are day surgeries that do require anesthesia. We also have digital dental radiology, which allows us to take x-rays of our patient’s teeth to make sure there aren’t infected roots or broken teeth under the gum surface!

It is important for everyone to know that bad breath isn’t normal! It is a sign that something is going on with your pet! In order to avoid the build of plaque, tartar and bacteria, we recommended brushing your pet’s teeth (every day, if possible, just like humans)! There are also certain diets and treats that might help to keep your animal’s teeth clean! We know that wet food might contribute to tartar build up, because they aren’t crunching on anything to help clean their teeth! If you are going to feed a wet diet, it might be helpful to supplement with dental chews/treats!
